I am very excited to announce that the new book about A Soldier’s Child is finally here. Ten years ago I helped my brother-in-law, Daryl JW Mackin, startup this great organization and have watched it flourish over the years. As Executive Director, Daryl has been responsible for the growth and direction of ASC. He’s written a well documented and heartfelt narrative of the experiences of walking alongside the lives of so many children affected by the loss of a military parent. The book is titled A Life Worth Celebrating: Stories of an Organization Serving the Children of our Gold Star Families and is available now. Get yourself a copy today.
Ready for a new devotional for the 2017 Lenten season? Consider Love Sung, a new meditative journal, with an emphasis on hearing from God through the voice of the Holy Spirit. Love Sung: 31 days to Discover Your True Identity, by author and musician Theron Hatch, provides 31 days of insights into what it means to have Identity in Christ. Each daily read has a corresponding journal page to go along with the scripture and thought for the day.
God created us with a song to sing. We have an enemy that wants to distort it or keep it from being heard. Love Sung helps you hear it again and gives you tools to sing it out boldly. When you truly understand who you are in Christ, other areas of life begin to make sense. Your struggle to belong; your desire to become somebody; your need for acceptance; these are all found in Jesus through his Love.
What others are saying:
Henry David Thoreau is accredited with saying, “…many men go to the grave with their song still in them.” Listen to the music of Theron Hatch’s book “Love Sung.” It will help you find your song and sing it for all the world to hear.
— Ken Davis, Author / Speaker
Theron’s Love Sung is as much his story as it is the story of anyone of us who has put our song away, thinking it didn’t matter, only to one day realize that something important is missing. That the symphony is incomplete without us taking our seat in the orchestra. I hope that you will hear the words in Theron’s offering as purely as I know he presents them.
— Chip Dodd, PhD, Author of The Voice of the Heart

Mary and I created a short video to say thank you for a great 2016.
Hi friends. While I was writing Love Sung, I began simultaneously writing songs that were connected to the journey I’ve been on these last few years. Songwriting was a new thing, but I had some positive responses and we’ve since played a few at church, at some other events in town, and I was even able to play a few while Anna and I were in Russia. There is one song in particular that is directly related to Love Sung that I haven’t played in public yet. This coming Saturday (8/20) I’ll be playing/singing some of these songs at a local songwriter night at Just Love Coffee on Memorial and MTCS Rd in Murfreesboro. My sister JoJo Mackin will be following my set with her own. Sure would be great to see you out there. It runs from 4:30-6:30pm. I’ll be on from 5-5:30.
The latest Love Sung edition now includes a journal page for each daily read. Much of the feedback I received with the first release was related to not having any room to journal and no real desire to journal publicly online. In hindsight, both make a lot of sense. The Love Sung book website journal pages still exists, but neither the paperback or kindle versions point to it anymore.
Each journal page is setup as a lined page with a specific topical question for the day. I tried to make sure it wasn’t a leading question or a question that reinforced an old identity. Here is an example of one of the pages with a journal entry.
I hope you’ll consider enjoying this book. It is different because it doesn’t tell you what do. It only asks you to listen. It is already changing lives. When identity is confirmed, freedom is the result. You can purchase Love Sung at lovesungbook.com/store.
For today only, the Kindle version of Love Sung is available for FREE. View the link here or search for Love Sung on your Kindle device or app. When you discover your true identity, you’ll experience real freedom. When you experience real freedom, you’ll be able to love others well. Phil 1:9-10. #lovesung

About Love Sung
How would your life change if you knew for certain who you truly are, what you are called to do, and where you are called to be? What if you removed the desire to become somebody because you knew without a doubt that you already are somebody? What if you knew you were loved. Like really loved. Not based on your behavior, but based on your position as a child of a King. What if God is waiting for you to be the real you… the one He created you to be, so He could call you into your next adventure. What if He is waiting to spend time with you, listening for your voice so He can respond to your real needs in His perfect love and amazing grace.
You see, you are born with a song within you, uniquely yours, created by God, restored in you by Jesus, and designed to be sung out by you in partnership with the work of the Holy Spirit in your life. Your song cries out to be heard; by God and by those around you.
Love Sung is a 31 day devotional. It tackles the topic of identity in Christ by inviting the reader into a deeper conversation with the Holy Spirit, who communicates with us the truth of who we are in Love. Unless you intentionally choose to plug your ears, it will be next to impossible for you to not hear from Him through this book, which is really just a tool to start a conversation. A conversation that many so desperately desire, yet have been told that it’s out of reach because of their past. The world has had its say in who you are up to this point. Why not take a moment or two and hear who your Creator says you are? Once you see, believe, and receive the truth about who you already are in Christ, you will have Love Sung through you. The world needs to hear your song, because your song is His song in you. Are you ready to sing it out?
As a way of giving back, my company Love Sung, LLC is donating a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the Love Sung book to two of my favorite organizations in my community. There are many great organization in town, but these two are especially close to my heart. I’ve got a small logo for each on the back cover as you can see in the photo. I’ve talked to both Derek and Candy and they are good with it.
Renewed Life Ministries Outreach is a one year, residential, discipleship training center. They help those who struggle with addiction or other life issues by giving them a safe place to regain solid ground and rebuild their lives. I’ve been a huge fan of Derek and the work they do there and have some really great friends that are in the program and many that have graduated. They let me teach there sometimes too. But I think I learn more from them though.
Last Call 4 Grace is… well they are incredible at what they do. They go into the darkness bringing the light of Jesus in with them. Places few others are willing to go. They are in the rescue business. My son Luke came to us through the work of LC4G.
